As an 2D FX Animator, you will be responsible for creating dynamic and visually appealing special effects within scenes, enhancing the overall visual storytelling of our productions. Working with Harmony software or After Effects, you will collaborate closely with the FX Supervisor and animation team to integrate effects seamlessly into the animation process.

Areas of Accountability

FX Animation Production

• Utilise software to create a variety of special effects such as explosions, magic effects, weather elements, and more.

• Ensure FX animations are visually compelling, realistic (where applicable), and enhance the narrative of the scene.

• Work closely with the FX Supervisor and animation team to understand project requirements and integrate effects into scenes.

• Coordinate with other departments (such as animation and compositing) to ensure seamless integration of FX elements.

• Conduct self-reviews of FX animation to ensure quality and consistency.

• Address feedback from FX Supervisor and incorporate revisions as needed.

• Troubleshoot technical issues related to FX animations and collaborate with technical teams for solutions.

• Communicate effectively with production teams to meet project deadlines and milestones.

• Provide status updates and participate in team meetings to discuss progress and challenges.
  

Skills/Experience

• Relevant qualification in Animation

• Proficient use of design software, Adobe Photoshop and when needed, Toon Boom Harmony.

• Strong collaboration and communication skills. Able to clearly communicate thinking visually and verbally.

• Strong FX animation skills and an excellent portfolio/reel demonstrating an eye for detail, style and consistency.

• Ability to constructively receive and apply feedback effectively.

• Reliable, punctual, honest and well-presented.

• Strong time management and organisational skills, working effectively to deadlines.
